Just wanted to say that the effort and love that the Marthrown bunch put into their area of the forest is simply amazing! We underestimated the place so upon arrival we were in awe! the Roundhouse and Tipi were beyond words and the Hot Tub and Sauna were just the ticket, however i think we all loved the cold shower which was a great contrast to the steaming waters of the Tub! Just wanted to say thank you for a really once-in-a-lifetime birthday!

Yurt - Fantastically simple, zero impact and in today's material world this reminds you and proves that nature still wins hands down. The non-commerciality only enhances the feel, and yet the surprise of the facilities means you can enjoy with a "treated" feeling. I am thinking how many friends I can invite here, and reasons to get them to share this unique facility. I hope it stays the hidden treasure it is so we can enjoy Mabie Forest to the full. Thanks

Arriving in torrential rain we changed plan and stayed 2 nights in the yurt - blissfully warm, dry and excellent value. We cooked a roast in the oven and walked in the forest. We'll be back for a longer stay. Thanks for your kindness and welcome"

How to leave the yurt? Turn your back on it and run down the hill fast! Don't look back - just remember it!"

Thank you so much Pam, Mike and Matt for your warm welcoming hospitality, you made our much needed holiday what it was and the food was WONDERFUL!

I'm definitely a city girl at heart but I challenge anyone not to embrace nature whilst here! The night in the Roundhouse pleasantly surprised me (I nearly chickened out in favour of the bunkhouse with my double duvet!) I would definitely do it again! Drinking champagne whilst in the hot tub at night spotting shooting stars was magical. I will never forget it! The children have enjoyed their parents more relaxed attitude; the hot tub followed by the cold bucket shower but most of all toasting marshmallows round the Roundhouse fire whilst debating the best way to kill a werewolf!"

We should have slept in Manchester tonight but our friends were not able to host us - so we had to find a place to stay - we found this place almost by "mistake". What a wonderful mistake! Simply a great gift to us on our last night in Scotland. So lucky to have a clear sky so we had a wonderful time in the tub under the stars! We loved the sauna too! Beautiful place - room and kitchen clean and eco-friendly. Very nice hospitality in a very nice area. Unfortunately we have to leave too early to enjoy the forest and Roundhouse etc but hope to come back again.

For me Marthrown is the most magical place in Scotland ! Tucked away up in the forest, you feel like you've entered a different world away from everything.

For a quiet camping weekend or a great getaway with all your friends staying in the roundhouse or tipi, it's such a special experience. The food is amazing - if you have enough people, try the hog roast - it's phenomenal!!

Pam, Mike and Matt who run the place are completely lovely and will stop at nothing to make sure your stay is brilliant.

We love Marthrown so much we decided to get married there: We spent 5 days in the forest with all our friends having bonfires, BBQs, doing activities like the high ropes course, enjoying the hot tub and having parties in the roundhouse... then had the most perfect wedding ceremony in the sunshine surrounded by bluebells. Amazing.
